Students will be assigned a small group topic. Students will divide the work within the topic. Students will show how their topic is connected to the other assigned topics and show how it is relevant to today’s society. Research can be presented in the form of a Glogster poster or PowerPoint presentation. Students will also need to complete a bibliography of their resources used in MLA format.
Students will be assigned to one of eight topics:
Geography
Government
Wars
Economics
Society (Daily Life, religion/philosophy, marketplace)
Society (art, entertainment [including sports])
Technology
Transportation
Students will use both print and electronic materials. Each student is required to contribute at least 3 sources to their research, with a least one print and one electronic resource. Students will also cite how he or she evaluated it as an appropriate resource. Some sources may be repeated but only if different information is sought (i.e. for geography if students split up the city-states, and a source has information on each one separately). However, each student is required to have at least one unique source.
Each group must address this question: What do you think are the most important contributions within your topic the ancient Greeks made to the world today?
Give background to the contribution as it applied to the Ancient Greeks. Then comment on how it affects today’s society. Maximum of 10 contributions. Grades will depend on how creative students are in selecting their contributes and addressing how the contributions affect today’s society as well as how in-depth their discussion and explanation of the contribution itself is.
